Clark Richardson

Clark Richardson, MPH

President & CEO

Clark began work in OTC consumer research in 1997, after completing graduate studies in Public Health. Since those early days, Clark's responsibilities have ranged from Assistant Project Manager to SAS programmer, Project Manager, Director of Operations, Vice President, President, and most recently CEO at PEGUS Research. He is actively involved in industry and scientific issues and is a frequent presenter on research methods and innovation.

After completing scores of OTC consumer studies (including numerous label comprehension, self-selection and actual use projects) for sponsors over the last 21 years, he brings a strong orientation toward OTC-switch program strategy, regulatory agency interaction, study design, analytic issues and solid, practical, high-quality research. In a period of intensive growth and evolution at PEGUS, Clark directs the full range of operations across our functional areas.

Sarah Farnsworth

Sarah Farnsworth, PhD

Vice President, Scientific Affairs

Sarah has been with PEGUS since 2009 and has previously served as a Project Manager and Director of Clinical Operations. She is experienced in study design and implementation with a variety of behavioral research studies, including qualitative, label comprehension, self-selection, actual use, and human factors studies. Sarah currently oversees the Project Management and Statistics departments at PEGUS.

With an undergraduate degree in Psychology and doctorate in Neuroscience, she brings extensive research experience and a unique expertise to PEGUS in the areas of Neuropharmacology and the biological basis of human behavior. Sarah is also an adjunct professor of Psychology at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah where she teaches undergraduate Psychology and Neuroscience courses.

Russ Bradford

Russell Bradford, MD, MSPH

Vice President, Medical Affairs

One of PEGUS Research's first employees, Russ earned his MD from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1999. He subsequently pursued post-doctoral training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, with subspecialty training in Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Along the way, he earned his MSPH from the UAB School of Public Health.

Russ has 20+ years of research experience, spanning the spectrum from basic science to clinical trials. He continues to regularly care for hospitalized children. Russ returned to PEGUS Research in 2011 as part of the executive team, with specific responsibility over medical affairs and clinical data collection.

Kimberly Anderson

Kimberly Anderson, MPH

Vice President, Clinical Operations

Kimberly joined PEGUS Research in 1998 and has been involved with many aspects of operations within PEGUS since that time. She obtained her Master's degree in Public Health at the University of Utah in 2009. She has extensive experience in the design and conduct of consumer behavior studies, including label comprehension, self-selection and actual use trials. She currently oversees project support departments, including Data Management, Regulatory and Site Coordination and provides leadership and oversight for the management of sponsor programs.
Dave McCammon

Dave McCammon, MS

Senior Scientific Consultant

After previously serving many years as PEGUS' President and then as Chairman and CEO, Dave currently serves as Senior Scientific Consultant. At a later age than usual to start his education (age 26), he pursued his degrees working full-time, attending school full-time, and raising, with his wife, their five children. He graduated Phi Kappa Phi, obtaining his M.S. degree in Sociology with a focus on research methodology.

Prior to joining PEGUS in 1995, he served for many years in senior management positions at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida in patient research and operational management positions.

Brent Page

Brent Page, PhD

Senior Scientific Consultant

As one of the founders of PEGUS, Brent played an important role early on by mining databases for safety studies.

Brent received his doctorate from the University of Utah in Applied Psychology (program evaluation and research design) and Organizational Behavior and presently holds and adjunct faculty position in the Departments of Psychology at the university and Family and Preventive Medicine in the medical college.

Dave Bradford

David Bradford, PhD

Senior Scientific Advisor

Dave is one of the founders of PEGUS Research. He and his colleagues perceived a need to rationalize the process of switching a drug from prescription to non-prescription status. They began an effort to define and adapt the science of observational trials to this over-the-counter switch objective. He has also been instrumental in the design of novel epidemiological studies to assess drug-related safety and misuse matters.

Dave earned his doctorate in clinical psychology and a master's degree in public health from the University of Utah, where he is a member of the adjunct faculty in the medical college’s Division of Family and Preventive Medicine. Dave is active in efforts by the industry association, the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, in working with the FDA to further define and enhance the scientific development of consumer research.

He also served as an officer in the Army and Air Force Reserve, and is now in the retired reserve. Dave has been involved in research his whole career, and particularly enjoys the challenges of drug safety and OTC switch research.

Brandon Henrie

Brandon Henrie, MS

Associate Vice President, Operations

As a Director of Clinical Operations, Brandon was involved in managing and overseeing projects. He has managed label comprehension, self-selection, human factors, and actual use studies. Brandon has also functioned as a Principal Investigator and has experience as a study monitor. Brandon earned an undergraduate degree in biology and a master’s degree in biochemistry. With extensive research experience in areas such as cellular metabolism, retrovirology, cell biology, and neurobiology, he brings an analytic and scientific mindset to studies conducted at PEGUS.
Katie Callaway

Katie Callaway, BBA, BS

Director - Clinical Study Monitoring

Katie has been with PEGUS since 2010, functioning in various operational roles. Most recently as a Project Manager, she managed large-scale Actual Use Trials, Label Comprehension Studies, and Self-Selection Studies. Katie also has extensive experience as a Monitor/CRA, and as a trainer for both site and PEGUS staff.

Katie has two bachelor degrees; her first, a B.B.A., in Marketing from Pace University in New York, followed by a Communicative Disorders degree (B.S.) from Utah State University. Katie looks forward to expanding her experience and knowledge in her role as Clinical Operations Consultant.

Katie Montenegro

Katherine Montenegro, MPH

Director - Clinical Operations

Katie joined the Project Management team at PEGUS in November 2015. She earned her undergraduate degree in exercise physiology and her master’s degree in public health from the University of Utah while serving on campus residents through educational and social programming. Katie has worked in mosquito control and surveillance for the past few mosquito seasons monitoring mosquito species and vector-borne diseases. She is excited to be a part of the exciting research taking place with PEGUS. Outside of work, she enjoys the great outdoors of Utah!
Sydney Cobb

Project Management Support Specialist

Sydney joined the PEGUS team in May 2016 as a Project Manager. Her current role as a Project Management Support Specialist has her supporting studies and project documentation. Sydney received her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health at Brigham Young University.

Emily joined the PEGUS team in June 2016 as a Site Coordinator. Her current role as a Project Manager has her facilitating and supporting various projects. Emily received her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health at Brigham Young University. In her free time Emily enjoys spending time with her family and having fun with her two big dogs.
Eva DeJong

Eva DeJong

Project Manager

Eva joined the Project Management team at PEGUS in July 2018. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in 2012 from Calvin College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in 2013 from Creighton University, and is completing a Master’s Degree in Public Health from Des Moines University. Eva has previously worked as a Registered Nurse and a Public Health Nurse in the hospital, clinic, and community settings. She enjoys helping communities improve access to health more effectively and efficiently without comprising quality of care. In her free time, Eva enjoys running, hiking, cooking, and traveling.
Lauren Call

Project Manager

Lauren joined the Project Management team at PEGUS in March 2017. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and Exercise Science in 2013 and is completing a Master’s Degree in Public Health from Brigham Young University. Lauren has previously worked in Public Health Nursing and enjoys helping communities become healthier. In her free time, Lauren enjoys hiking, weightlifting, and painting.
Max George

Max George, BS

Project Manager

Max joined the PEGUS team in July of 2017. He is a Weber State Graduate and has a Bachelor's degree is in zoology with a heavy emphasis on the neurosciences. He enjoys all aspects of scientific research, and has a detailed background working with various research programs focusing on physiological empathy, improvements to pain medications, anxiety and OCD treatments, and new diabetic medicines. He is a Utah native and loves watching a good scary movie and spending as much time with his daughter as he can.
Nikki Gillman

Nicolette Gillman, BS

Project Manager

Nicolette eagerly joined the PEGUS team as an Assistant Project Manager in July 2017. She earned her B.S. in Anthropology with minors in Asian Studies and Nutrition from the University of Utah. During her studies, Nikki wrote a publishable paper on celiac disease and the experience piqued her interest in medical research. Over six years, Nikki has explored different areas of the field, including nutrition information, research ethics and review, and nationwide data on patient recovery. At home, Nikki has a wide range of creative hobbies including woodworking, embroidering and home improvement. She equally loves international travel and camping in Utah.

Chiara joined the PEGUS team in December 2018 as a Research Assistant. Her role has her supporting the project leadership team and assisting in the management of studies. Chiara received her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health at Brigham Young University - Idaho.
Tera Smith

Tera Smith

Director - Clinical Data Management

Tera began her employment with PEGUS in 2002. Since then, she has held a number of positions within the company in the areas of data collection and data management.

In her current role as Director of Clinical Data Management, she uses her exceptional attention to detail to help develop and maintain databases to ensure data is as accurate and complete as possible.

Tera has been involved in a number of actual use trials, self-selection studies, and label comprehension studies in her time at PEGUS.

She is currently in the process of obtaining a bachelor’s of science degree in computer science.

Jeff Prims

Lead Clinical Database Programmer

Jeff came to PEGUS with many years of software development experience in 2006 and is currently the Lead Database programmer. Jeff has been involved in many clinical and managed care research projects.

Jeff has an Associate's degree in Applied Technology from Davis Applied Technology College where he currently serves on the Information Technology Advisory Board.

Berenice Gonzalez

Bernice began her career at PEGUS in 2007 as a Health Care Data Collection Interviewer. In 2011, she was promoted to a Shift Leader in the Health Care Data Collection call center, where she was in charge of the PRAMS study. She was given the opportunity to work as a Clinical Data Management Assistant in 2012 and then as Assistant Clinical Database Programmer in 2015. Berenice has great experience in both collecting and managing data for clinical and health care studies.
Joel Mendoza

Assistant Clinical Database Programmer

Joel started in PEGUS’s Call Center as an interviewer in 2012. Since then he has moved into Data Management, where he has been since 2014, and is currently an Assistant Database Programmer. Since joining Data Management he has served as the data manager for at least a dozen projects and has recently ventured into programming. He is currently working on completing an Associate degree in Computer Sciences.

Lead Clinical Data Management Associate

Since joining PEGUS in 2008, Sydney has worked in several different positions in our Health Care Services call center, including some time as a PRAMS Data Collection Interviewer. Currently serving as the Lead Clinical Data Management Assistant, she has had the opportunity to get experience in both health survey research and clinical projects, such as actual use trials and label comprehension studies.

Sydney is currently working on an Associate's degree at Salt Lake Community College.

Courtney joined the PEGUS team in October 2017 as a Clinical Data Management Assistant. Her role has her supporting the development and collection of data. Courtney received her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health at Brigham Young University-Idaho.
Duyen Nguyen

Clinical Data Management Associate

Duyen joined the PEGUS team in August 2018 as a Clinical Data Management Assistant. In her assistant role, she provides key support in data managing and wrangling for self-selection, label comprehension and actual use trial studies. She recently earned a certificate in programming for data science and is taking steps to venture into data analysis.
Duyen received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Communications at RMIT University Vietnam and her Associate in Applied Science in Photography at Salt Lake Community College, where she produced a well-received documentary photo essay on the LGBTQ+ community in Salt Lake City. In her free time, she enjoys analogue photography, reading, and writing.
Laura Anderson

Clinical Data Management Assistant

Laura joined the PEGUS team in February 2019 as a member of the Data Management team. She is currently working toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Utah, minoring in Chemistry. During her degree she was a research assistant working with the Pediatric Neonatology and Emergency Departments at the University of Utah Hospital. Outside of work Laura enjoys hiking and paddle boarding around Utah.

Felicity Hughes

Clinical Data Management Assistant

Felicity joined the PEGUS team in July 2019 as a Clinical Data Management Assistant. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from Utah State University, with a minor in International Studies.

During her time at USU, she worked as an Undergraduate Teaching Fellow and participated in research projects, working closely with the Anthropology and Global Communications departments. She is currently working toward a Master’s of Science in Public Health degree, with an emphasis in epidemiology and statistics.

Outside of work, Felicity enjoys music, and exploring the outdoors.

Cindy Riley

Clinical Data Collection Project Manager

Cindy joined the PEGUS Clinical Data Collection team in 2010. Over the last several years, she has worked as a clinical interviewer, supervisor, and assistant project manager with a focus on severe adverse events. Cindy earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Georgia and then went on to earn her R.N. degree from Darton College. Prior to working at PEGUS, she gained critical care experience working as a clinical nurse, supervisor, and preceptor in the only Level II Trauma Center in South Georgia. She has also worked in the insurance industry as a utilization review nurse and R.N. case manager handling catastrophic cases.
McKinsie Bushnell

Clinical Data Collection Assistant Project Manager

Kinsie joined the PEGUS Clinical Data Collection team in 2017. She functions as a clinical interviewer with a focus on reporting serious adverse events. Kinsie earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Southern Utah University in 2015. Before coming to PEGUS, she gained clinical experience in cardiology at level I trauma centers in Texas and Utah. Kinsie is thrilled to be furthering her education by working toward a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree through Johns Hopkins University.

Irene Brown

Irene Brown, MS

Senior Statistician and SAS Programmer

Irene earned a B.S. in Statistics from Brigham Young University and a M.S. in Statistics from The George Washington University. She has been programming in SAS extensively for many years. She spent the beginning of her career at the U.S. Census Bureau where she earned the Bronze Medal Award for outstanding leadership and innovation in implementing processing improvements in the Quarterly Financial Report. Before coming to PEGUS, she worked on statistical analysis of the Criminal and Social Justice System in Salt Lake County.

Outside of work, she enjoys lightsaber dueling with her husband and recently placed 4th in a Karate sparring tournament.

Mia Chen

Statistician and SAS Programmer

Mia joined the PEGUS team in September 2019 as the SAS Programmer/Statistician. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Public Health at the University of California, Irvine, and finished her Master’s Degree in Biostatistics at Tulane University, with an emphasis on statistical analysis of medical/health related data using SAS.

During her degree she was a research assistant on multiple research studies, including one that was a CDC funded project, and worked closely with the professionals and physicians. Mia has also helped on validation work using SAS during graduate school. Mia’s professional background is in scientific research, healthcare, and data analysis/programming.

Outside of work Mia enjoys the both outdoors and indoors, particularly hiking, strolling, and freehand drawing.

Kim Johnson

Director - Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance

Kim began working at PEGUS in January, 2000 and is currently the Director of Quality Assurance. She has held various other positions within PEGUS, including Project Manager, Site Coordination Supervisor and Monitor. She is responsible for ensuring that each study is conducted in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, good clinical practice (GCP) guidelines and standards including ethical conduct, standard operating procedures, reporting requirements, and personnel qualifications. She oversees the annual revision of Standard Operating Procedures and conducting general audits to ensure that SOPs are being complied with.
Kim also serves as the PEGUS Privacy Officer and is responsible for overall privacy of protected health information by ensuring safeguards are implemented to protect health information from intentional or accidental disclosure or misuse. She graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Behavior Science and Health.

Jenny joined the Regulatory department of PEGUS in 2012. She had previously worked in the banking industry for 7 years in customer service and as a regulatory/compliance manager. She has degrees in Business Management and Accounting and looks forward to furthering her education.

Davin joined the PEGUS team March 2019 as a Regulatory Assistant. He received dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Sociology and Economics at the University of Utah, and is looking to earn a Doctorate of Behavioral Economics as well. Davin loves to spend his free time camping, vintage shopping, and learning new skills and hobbies.

Mark joined the PEGUS team in April 2013 in Project Support. His current role as a Monitoring Coordinator has him supporting studies, project documentation, and data collection. Mark received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Utah State University.

Jelem joined the PEGUS team in July 2006 as a Data Collection Interviewer. Her current role of Study Monitor has her monitoring aspects of research sites and the data collection process. Jelem received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at University of Utah.
Shannon Hafford

Study Monitor

Shannon joined the PEGUS Site Coordination team in August 2017. She graduated with her Bachelors in Health Science with an emphasis in Public Health from Brigham Young University-Idaho. She has worked with the Utah County Health Department in the Tobacco Prevention unit where she taught youth throughout the community about the dangers of tobacco products. In her spare time, she enjoys singing, playing guitar, and hiking the beautiful Wasatch Range.

Brooke joined the PEGUS team in December 2018 as a Research Assistant. Her role has her supporting the project leadership team and assisting in the management of studies. Brooke received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology from the University of Utah. Brooke frequently enjoys a good meal with friends but can also be found on long hikes with her husky companion, Blue.
Lindsay Starke

Site Coordination Manager

Lindsay has been working for PEGUS Research since 2011. She is currently attending college at Salt Lake Community College, completing her general studies.

Outside of work, Lindsay has played on a roller derby team for 6 years in Salt Lake City. Lindsay brings excitement and enthusiasm to the team and is very detailed oriented with a willingness to learn.

Xanthe joined the PEGUS team in August 2005 as a Data Collection Interviewer. Her current role of Subject Support Supervisor has her leading the Subject Support team and coordinating with other departments. Xanthe received her Associates of Sociology degree at Salt Lake Community College.

Bryn Koldewyn

Subject Support Team Leader

Bryn joined the PEGUS team in May 2019 as a Research Assistant Intern and is now working as a Subject Support Team Leader. She currently attends the University of Utah, majoring in Psychology and minoring in cognitive science with an expected graduation date of May 2020.

When she isn’t at school or work she enjoys watching foreign TV shows and psychological thrillers, as well as cooking with friends.

Darby Anderson

Darby joined the PEGUS team in May 2019 as a Research Assistant Intern and is now working as a Subject Support Team Leader. She is currently attending the University of Utah, studying Psychology. Her role has her supporting projects and leading participant support.
Dawn Straatsma

Dawn Straatsma

Director - Contract Management

Dawn currently serves as the Director of Contract Management. Prior to this role, she led PEGUS Research’s Healthcare Research Call Center and Data Management teams, providing clients with superior leadership in meeting critical time lines, hiring professional interviewing and technical staff, and implementing proficient and accurate data collection methodology via phone, web, and mail.

Dawn came to PEGUS with over 10 years experience in data collection and computer programming. Prior to her employment at PEGUS Research, Dawn served as Assistant Database Administrator for a loan servicing company. Dawn is extremely detail-oriented and possesses strong skills for trouble-shooting and project management.

Prior to expanding her family, Dawn attended Salt Lake Community College expanding her knowledge in Computer Science. Dawn has been with PEGUS Research, for over 10 years.

John Evans

John Evans, BS

Director - Information Technology and Security

John comes to PEGUS Research with broad experience in a number of technical areas and in a variety of work environments, including as a network administrator for a large financial institution, a computer hardware repair technician in a small shop, and as the systems administrator and B2B project coordinator for a distributor of laboratory equipment and supplies for the genetics and molecular biology research markets. In addition, he taught computer networking technology at the college level fulltime for several years, publishing twice. For most of that time he was the head of the academic department.

John earned a BS in Computer Science from Brigham Young University, and has completed the course work for an MS in Educational Technology at Boise State University.

In his spare time, if he is not found with a keyboard or soldering iron in his hand, John enjoys spending his time with his wife and six kids.

Jonathan Knowles

Jr. Systems Administrator

Jonathan joined the PEGUS team in August 2019 as a Junior Systems Administrator. His current role involves supporting technical needs of the business and also providing support to end users.

Prior to joining our team, he was an IT technician for a local ski resort where he supported all of the property’s systems and infrastructure across the various departments. Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys outdoor activities such as snowboarding and hiking.

Eric Holmes

Senior Business Analytics Manager

Eric joined PEGUS in 2015 to help with training and recruiting as well as other HR responsibilities. He earned a Masters Degree in Health Administration from Weber State University. in 2015. Eric enjoys working with people, as well as geeking out with new tricks learned in Excel or Access.

In his free time, Eric enjoys playing music and following the Utah Jazz.

Damon Sias

Human Resources Administrator

Damon joined the PEGUS team in February 2019 as the Human Resources Administrator. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at Utah State University, minoring in Sociology, with an emphasis on interviewing and counseling. During his degree he was a research assistant on multiple TEAL and STEM studies working closely with the Education Department. Damon’s professional background is in healthcare, sales, and banking. Outside of work Damon enjoys the outdoors and staying active, particularly rock climbing and hiking.
Cody Wilkerson

Accounting Assistant

Cody joined PEGUS in April 2019 as the Assistant Accountant. He moved to Utah shortly after receiving his MSA from California State University, San Bernardino. With previous experience in retail and being a CarHop at Sonics, he was excited to get the opportunity to work in the field of his choosing at PEGUS. Outside of work Cody enjoys exploring Utah with his dogs and aquascaping.
